Join us for an introduction to English Paper Piecing (a hand quilting/applique' technique) as well as machine quilting and binding to make a 16" throw pillow cover. Pick up a traditional hand sewing technique to keep your hands busy and provide a bit of relaxation  Joelle calls this "yoga for her hands." In the first class, we will use 2" hexagons and a simple but elegant flower pattern to get you started. EPP projects can travel with you, require no special equipment, and the design possibilities are almost endless. In the second week we will use machine sewing techniques to turn your flower into a quilted 16" throw pillow cover. We will cover methods for using versatile pattern to make other projects.

The cost of the class includes six hours of instruction in a small group setting, paper hexagons, glue stick, small handsewing kit to get you started, batting, and the pattern. You will need two fat quarters for the English Paper Piecing and scrappy binding, 1/2 yard for the pillow background, and a 16" square pillow fill. This is a great time to raid your stash. We can put together a kit for you, or you can pick up your fabric at 20% discount from us.

Note that you will need to do some sewing outside of class sessions to complete the project in two weeks.

Skill: Be able to thread a hand sewing needle; be able to sew a straight line on a sewing machine.

In case of cancellation by us, you may choose to be refunded or receive store credit for the amount paid at the time of registration and use the credit towards a future class within 6 months.
