TILLY AND THE BUTTONS - ROMY TOP AND DRESS
Taking inspiration from Riviera style, Tilly designed the Romy top and Dress to emulate the casual cool of the south of France. Think sunshine walks along the promenade, looking chic but feeling comfortable at the same time. It's the charming details on Romy that elevate this timeless basic to something extra special. From the front, the simple loose-fitting shape is effortlessly chic, while the overlapping envelope neckline creates some construction interest and the optional back ties or contrast binding add a fun twist to the classic Breton or T-shirt Dress. With choice of cap, three-quarter or full length sleeves, Romy is a multi-seasonal winner that’s suitable for all temperatures. Tilly’s made three gorgeous variations to choose from, so make them all -- or make your own -- to upgrade your casual me-made wardrobe with stylish (and comfy!) tops and Dresses!
Recommended Fabrics:
Medium-weight low stretch knit fabrics such as jersey or interlock, or even a lightweight ponte for the cooler months to make it extra snuggly. Tilly's tip is to avoid any fabric that is too clingy or drapey (like a viscose jersey) to avoid neckline droop, and if you are making the back tie version, steer clear of anything thick so the knot doesn't end up bulky; a medium weight cotton jersey would be perfect. As the Pattern has a modern, looser fit, you don't need to worry about picking a fabric with a certain amount of stretch - yay!
Sizes: 2-16 (US). Romy’s simple silhouette is easy to size.a
Difficulty: Intermediate/Improvers. If you've got a couple of jersey projects under your belt, you'll be absolutely fine to sew Romy!
